The design process for a typical project would involve the following stages. It may however vary, to accommodate specific requirements of each project.
Schematic Design Stage:
1. Initial briefing about the project.
2. Indication on lighting budget and project timeline.
3. Carry out conceptual design studies.
4. Submit lighting concept supported by details to convey the intent of lighting design.
5. Design discussions/conferences with relevant designers and consultants.
6. Design discussions specific to IGBC / LEED certification, if the project aims at it.
Detailed Design Stage:
1. Preparation of final lighting layout(s).
2. Assist the project team / PMC for arranging samples of non-standard or custom-built products for approval.
3. Final submission, that would include lighting layouts, lamp and luminaire specifications, BOQ etc.
4. Review of samples along with project team, before procurement.
Construction Stage:
1. Site visits as required by the project. Discussions on the phone and via internet to resolve design / site issues.
2. Review and evaluate the installation to assure that the design intent is achieved.
